After the recent announcement of the route for this year’s Tour of Britain, we were very disappointed that it will not pass though or close to the Ashdown Forest in Sussex. The Tour de France famously used the roads in and around the forest a few years back and we were hoping that the area’s undulating landscape and magnificent cycling roads would be ideal to test the world’s best bike riders and teams. We hope that we may get our chance in the future and the country and world can once again see the fantastic cycling routes that the Ashdown Forest has to offer. New cycle routes in Ashdown Forest added

New cycle routes in and around the Ashdown Forest have been added to the website today. These include a nice gentle route of the surrounding cycling area in East Sussex as well as a tough climbing bike ride up the famous Kidds Hill, known as ‘the wall’. Cyclists looking for cycle routes can download the routes free of charge direct to a Garmin device. Website visitors are encouraged to register free of charge with the website to receive alerts when new cycle rides are added to the website. Followers on Twitter and Google+ will also receive alerts when new bike rides are added. Ashdown Forest cycling in a non-commercial website promoting cycling in and around the stunning Ashdown Forest area of East Sussex.

Cycle to the Bluebell Railway

One of East Sussex’s most popular days out, the Bluebell railway will shortly open it’s new extended line through to East Grinstead. In close proximity to Ashdown Forest, the extension to the line will mean that cyclist visiting and enjoying the magnificent cycling routes or taking a holiday in the Ashdown Forest area can take a short bike ride to East Grinstead or the Bluebell Railway’s main station at Sheffield Park and enjoy a ride on this magnificent railway. Cyclists can take the mainline train on the London to East Grinstead line (Southern railways) and then take a gentle ride through Forest Row on the A22 or using a quiet back route into the Ashdown Forest.
